Free Knee Health Workshop - This Sunday!

December 8th, 2009

If you are playing or training (or even just living ;) with knee pain…mark your calendar for this Sunday (12/13) from 5-6:30 at Carolina Courts.  We will have a FREE workshop on how to end knee pain forever.  I know…this sounds like a lofty goal, but we are going for it!  And we have a system that hasn’t failed us yet.

This fall, we applied these drills and joint movements to some of the best young basketball prospects in North and South Carolina.  The results were amazing and by the end of the weekend, we had a line out the door waiting to work with us.  Bobby and I talked about it and realize that one of the things that seperate his speed, agility, and jump programs from the rest is the emphasis on pain-free motion.  Most coaches have to refer this out to PTs or other health professionals (or even worse, just ignore it!) For us, this is a vital part of our program.

This Sunday, we will give you all of the information to get your knees to work for you, not against you.  Expect to move around a little bit and get blown away by how much better you feel.

If you can make it, please send a quick email to jason@rhymerfitness.com or call 704-661-5301 to confirm your spot for the workshop.  If you need directions to Carolina Courts, click HERE.

Rhymer Fitness Launches Volo!

December 3rd, 2009

A title for this post that applies to training could be “Don’t Let Life Get in the Way of Your Passion”.  Today, we launched a new online billing and scheduling system for our clients with Volo Innovations.  This has taken a few months to get going, but I am very excited about how this will streamline our business so that Bobby and I can focus on what we do best…leading  cutting-edge fitness bootcamps and private training sessions.

I can now share with you the burdens from the last several months and why this is so cool for our clients.  I have been stuck in a battle that is depicted in the classic business book called “The E Myth” by Michael Gerber.  He makes an argument that every independent business owner is part entrepreneur, manager, and technician.  Basically, we need to be have the dreams, be able to organize it, but also get the work done.  I am a strong entrepreneur, and a very good technician (in my case, the work is the daily training sessions with my clients).  I am a lousy manager.  But all three are important for a business to thrive.

Implementing Volo instantly makes me a better manager and frees up a ton of time to do what I really love…taking care of my clients and coming up with creative fitness programs.  I can also do more speaking engagements and article writing and just offer better services to our awesome clients who deserve the best.

In fact, honestly to me the fitness part is secondary to the relationship.  I don’t know how many trainers pray for their clients and think about them on vacation, but I often feel like fitness has been my way to just have some great people in my life.  When I can’t nurture that relationship, I get very frustrated.  I have been stuck in manager mode.  My life had got in the way of my passion.  But now I am ready to make 2010 our best year in terms of over-delivering to our clients for all of their fitness, nutritional, pain-relief, and weight loss goals.

Big things are coming up like a free knee health workshop on Dec. 13 and a HUGE bootcamp on Jan.9 with other locations around the world that might land us in the Guiness Book of World Records!  More info to come, but for now, thank you to all of our clients and friends for supporting this change in our business.

CHARLOTTE, N.C.Eat too much on Thanksgiving? Black Friday got you feeling blue?

Jason Rhymer of Rhymer Fitness is offering a free, “Thanksgiving Recovery Boot Camp” on Friday, Nov. 27 from 9 – 10 a.m. at Myers Park United Methodist Church in the parking lot on Queens Rd.

For just a donation, or proof of a donation, to Second Harvest Food Bank, adults will be able to participate in exercises to help burn off some of those excess calories consumed the previous day.

Some of the workouts will include “turkey get-ups” and stuffing-stopper push-ups.

“There’s no better way to reduce the guilt associated with overeating on Thanksgiving than by getting a good workout,” said Rhymer, president of Rhymer Fitness. “This will be a fun way to negate the effects of too much gravy, but most importantly, it will also help others enjoy the season, too.”

Anyone interested in participating should show up at the Queens Rd. parking lot at Myers Park United Methodist Church at 9 a.m. on Nov. 27. Yes…Finally…You Asked For It!

November 10th, 2009

Hey guys,

When it comes nutrition everyone typically thinks about one
thing…
Carbs, carbs, carbs. How do I avoid carbs?Well, what you should be talking about instead is, “How do I get

more lean Protein into my eating plan?”Now THAT is the right question.

You see, Protein is where it’s at. Check out these two little known

facts about protein:1) Protein requires more calories to digest than carbs or fat. This is

called the “thermic effect of food.” In other words, your body uses
more calories to digest protein than other nutrients. Pretty sneaky, huh?2) Protein provides satiety. That’s a fancy way of saying you feel

fuller for longer when you eat protein ;-)Good sources of Lean Protein come from foods such as:

Fish, eggs, poultry, lean beef…

But some people have trouble eating enough protein each day.

Some people would like it to be more convenient for them.If that’s the case with you then I have VERY good news. And it’s

news I’ve been waiting to tell you for some time now.My buddies over at Prograde Nutrition have finally released their

pharmaceutical quality whey protein. You see, not all Protein powders are created equal. Prograde Protein:

- Delivers unparalled purity through low-temperature mirco-filtering

- Is naturally sweetened with Stevia

- Contains 5.3 grams of branch chained amino acids per serving

- Mixes instantly with just a spoon

- Enhances absorption and digestion via lactase and Aminogen digestive enzyymes

The best part is they are putting it on sale this week for the Look, I’ve been waiting patiently for Prograde Protein
launch. You can get it at 10% off this week ONLY. Just go to
http://rhymerfitness.getprograde. com/protein-powder.html But you need to hurry. For one thing, the special price ends this

Friday, November 13th at 11:59pm EST. The other thing is, well, I
cannot begin to tell you how highly anticipated Prograde Protein has
been. There’s a very good chance they’ll be out of stock well before Friday even gets here!

Halloween Booootcamp!

We have a special fitness event coming up that will work out your cobwebs while giving back to the community.

It’s the first annual Rhymer Fitness Halloween Booootcamp at Carolina Courts in Indian Trail. This is an adult bootcamp with a special pumpkin and spider workout. The only cost is a bag of candy that will go to Turning Point Shelter and Program of Domestic Violence for Women and Children.

Dates and Times: Thursday 10/29 from 5:30 to 7:30 and Halloween Saturday from 11:00am-1:00pm

Bring your kids and they can shoot on “glowing” goals while you experience a howling good time working out with pumpkins and spider “webs”. Pass this along to your Facebook and Twitter friends who are looking for a creative way to workout and not feel guilty for an extra bite of candy this year, while also helping a great cause. You can wear costumes as long as you can move comfortably. Here’s the official flyer that you can print out and share with friends.

Nutritional Success Comes Down to 1 Thing!

October 4th, 2009

This week I told a bootcamp of 9 people that their “nutritional success” was like this scene from “City Slickers”:

What is the one thing that is keeping you from reaching your goals? Fast food? Late night eating? No breakfast? Some of you may need to eliminate a negative (less salt, less fat, less processed food, etc.). Or maybe you need to add a positive (more fruits, more veggies, more proteins, etc.).

At first, the one thing may seem like a simple behavioral change like I have mentioned above. But when you dig a little deeper, your “one thing” may reveal a deeper emotional reason why you continue to struggle with food. You may be sabotaging your own efforts because of thoughts like, “How will everyone look at me when I lose all of this weight?” or “I remember when that family member called me fat when I was a teenager…I have always thought of myself that way ever since.” Now your “one thing” takes on a different meaning as you start reclaiming your life and the body that you deserve.

Whatever your one thing is, get after it today and make a change! Don’t focus on anything else except the one thing!

Let us know if we can help.
